Dear Families and Volunteers:
Camp Twin Lakes' Family Warrior Weekend is a weekend retreat for Service Members and their immediate family members of ALL ages (spouses, children, parents and siblings, or alone) who have been effected as a result of the OEF/OIF/OND (Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn), also known as the Global War on Terror from September 11, 2001- present in any way. The weekend is provided by a partnership with Scott Rigsby Foundation, Charles D. Burnette Foundation, Miracle 4 Melanie, Rooms To Go Childrens' Fund, CA Technologies and Roosevelt Warm Springs Rehabilitation Institute as well as other volunteers and private organizations. These family weekends will be held at the beautiful Warm Springs' Camp Dream May 9-11, 2014; August 15-17; September 12-14 and November 7-9 and at Camp Will-A-Way located in Ft. Yargo State Park in Winder, GA February 7-9 and April 11-13. Families will enjoy participating in recreational activities ranging from sports, aquatics, outdoor activities, games and arts & crafts just to name a few. Participants will be able to enjoy these programs as an entire family as well as individually. We wanted to make this family retreat catered to them each individual family member as well as the entire family. We are excited to offer workshops and various skill-based programs as well as outside resources once participants depart.

Our goal is to provide the assistance and education for the participants to increase their level of function, both physically with the activities offered as well as mentally and emotionally with the skills provided...but this weekend is more than the goals we strive to obtain. It is more importantly an opportunity that enables the service member/veteran and family given the adaptation, tools and accessibility for participation in new experiences, knowledge and skills to 'carry' home with them. It gives the family a chance to reconnect and rebuild their foundation in a relaxing setting where all you have to worry about is when to be ants at breakfast!
When you click on the Registration link, you will find the Family Warrior Weekend registration forms. Completing this form does not guarantee your acceptance in the Family Weekend. If your family is interested in attending more than one of the weekends in 2014, please know that we want as many families to be able to experience this program as possible, so we are limiting each family to attend 2 weekends per year, with priority going to new families. However, if we have additional space we will offer that your family to be on the waiting list and we'll let your family know the week of the Family Weekend if there is extra room. (Volunteers - 18 years and older, do not have a limit on Family Weekends). In the email will be waivers/consent forms that must be signed by ALL ADULTS attending. It is after all of these steps are complete that we can then guarantee acceptance of your application for the Family Warrior Weekend.
Your form is successfully submitted when you see a confirmation box that reads "Thanks for registering..." There is a Refundable $50 per family registration fee (if your family attends more than a few times, we ask that you contribute to assist those families coming for the first time. If you are in need, financial assistance is available.
Please fill out all the questions as completely as possible, it is imperative that we know as much information about your family as possible so that we can safely serve you all at the retreat.
